The new addendas for Awakening, Forsaken, and Universal went out this month.  We’re hoping to make this a monthly thing depending on the updates needed.

Given that PCs are slowly starting to get higher level renowns now, please see the below guidance for how we as an ST team will be handling this. This guidance is designed to set out the expectations we as an ST team have of high renown PCs and to give you as players an idea of some of the additional benefits and consequences of high renown.

GST Forsaken

High Renown PCS
A PC becomes classified as “high renown” once they have achieved a renown at four. A PC may also be considered “high renown” if they have all renowns at rank three.

As per the setting document, high renown comes with a number of social consequences in addition to the increase in social prestige and spirt rank. Given that there are now a number of high renowned PCS in play. Some of these social consequences will now become increasingly relevant. As per the usual mechanics for renown, news of the character’s deeds have travelled and various individuals and entities will come to know of them.

The ST team for Forsaken will be looking for players whose play style and characters serves to exemplify the ideals of the given renown in question. As such this is something we as an ST team will consider before granting any renown approval of four or above. Furthermore we shall also be looking at how characters act from the point they receive a renown of four or above as we aim to ensure that such characters are acting within the ideals of their renown and the setting. Should this not be the case we will strip the PC in question of that renown.

Simply put, ours is a setting where you do not get to just rest on your laurels, you need to live up to your legend, you need to be doing worthy deeds and avoiding shaming/dishonouring yourselves. Remember, our mantra is no reward without risk, no risk without reward.

The Pure
The Pure will take more interest in the words and deeds of high renown characters. This may result in various challenges.

The Spirits
The spirits react to high renown characters in different ways depending upon the renown in question. This is particularly relevant for Honour 4 or higher characters.

The Forsaken
Achieving high renown can come with responsibilities and duties to ones Tribe. This is very much a theme we shall be pushing.

Each of my LSTs has been sent a more extensive ST version of this document, as such please take this as the brief heads up it is intended to be.

Statement of intent.

I’ve (Daniel) been threatened by a number of long running members that if I write something like my Board application I’ll be hunted down.  So I’ll start this by saying that Amy and I are intending to listen to the membership (Yes, Sorry, it’s going to be a serious one).

A quick bit about us.

Daniel is currently based in London, though started out in Essex in 2010.  He has a tendency to run for positions that don’t include any Story Telling.  He has taken a number of administrative roles through the Isles of Darkness and enjoys working to keep the society running. Amy is based in Scotland, as well as being an avid travelling player and took the role of Deputy Chair of the Board.  Both have accepted that if they gain this role they will leave all other positions to concentrate on being the GM. Both of us are approachable and are happy to speak to people about any issues that you wish to raise.  If you have any questions please contact us.

We believe that the GM role should be a team and that we have been working well as a team.  Our geographical bases allow us to have contact with the majority of the player base personally.

After the last GM elections we both took a place shadowing Pam as she did a great job of running the IOD.  It’s given us an insight into the job, the daily issues that arise and the ongoing organisation which keeps the Isles of Darkness running.

After looking through the review it was evident that the majority of people were happy with the chronicle having a joint continuity.  Our plan is to work with the GSTs to have a multi genre plot in place by the end of our first year to be reviewed during our second year. Part of this will involve creating a document clarifying cross genre procedure and player interaction between genres.  At this stage, considering the views of a number of GSTs, we are not planning on increasing player on player interaction between genres.

We will be there to support our volunteers and ensure that venue teams work together to produce the games we play.  Recently there has been a lack of people taking positons in the Isles of Darkness and we want to change that.  This society is based on volunteers and without new people taking part and going for roles we will stagnate.  If elected we will be working with the volunteers to create a better and fresher atmosphere. We want to ensure that people who haven’t volunteered before are supported to give it a go!
